Illustrated Tote Bags
This collection of illustrated tote bags was created for a concept store in Taormina that celebrates local craftsmanship and independent creativity. The idea was to turn Sicilian identity into a functional, everyday accessory with a bold and modern twist.
Each natural cotton tote features a front and back print showcasing a pair of symbolic subjects:
– The traditional Moorish heads, male and female;
– An octopus and sardines;
– The sea and Mount Etna.
The illustrations combine clean, stylised forms with a vibrant colour palette inspired by the energy, light, and tradition of the island. Each design is completed with a short phrase in Sicilian dialect, adding a cultural and emotional touch that strengthens the connection to the territory.
The project was developed in close collaboration with the client, from subject selection to composition and print adaptation. Everything was designed using Adobe InDesign, with a focus on fresh, contemporary aesthetics tailored for textile printing.
