The title of my degree thesis is "Faces in mundo", it's taken from latin and means "In a world of logos". It's divided in four parts and each of them speaks about a specific topic. The different parts are: "Comunicazione" (communication) is about what communication is. How humanity started to communicate and how man started to create and use logos. Many quotes are by important theorists of graphic and visual design, trying to define what logos are and how they can be categorized. "Storia" (history) looks at the history of writing from the Sumerians to the Phoenicians. This part talks about how man started to use a cross to sign, that with the passing of time became monograms and later logos. Now logos are more than just visual signs. They became brands, bringing messages and values. "Progettazione" (designing) describes the whole process of creating a logo, from the idea and on. It explains that the choice of font, colour and form, has an important impact and a deep symbolical meaning, it isn't simply a choice based on the contemporary trends or taste of the designer. "Catalogo" (catalogue) is a study of more than a hundred famous logos. Each accompanied by date of designing, name of the designer, history and the symbolical meaning.
